Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading the performance of them. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.
Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear because of their requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They improve the stats of the item that they're connected to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a specialist or higher salvage kit to recover upgrades from the items.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to take on. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will boost the damage it absorbs. However, it's important to be aware that this upgrade will raise its weight, requiring it to be heavier than it was before.
There are several different types of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different impact. Certain upgrades give armor an extra amount of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade the item can be given, as illustrated below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees in order to be used. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges for these upgrades are updated daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.
The cheapest method of upgrading armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be gathered by exploring the environment and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, but it can be obtained through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can provide significant boost in stats, and are definitely worth the investment.
item upgrading of upgrading an armor piece to its maximum upgrade level will significantly boost its defense however, the user must be aware that increasing its weight will dramatically reduce its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The added defense typically isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Certain firearms also have enhancements that enhance their intrinsic capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).
item upgrade for weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. These can be obtained by completing side quests or killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.
To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade the more advanced the level. The cost of upgrades will be lower if have more than one of the upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your weapon and equipment sets changed a little. In the past, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay a certain amount of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher quality. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level at which point the upgrades would be reset.
You can still do this however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. You should consider buying equipment with minimal upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. They will also be able to give you the most prestigious perks and blessings.
Most players will want to prioritize upgrades to the weapons they are most likely to use to help them level up faster. Additionally players, they should think about upgrading the weapons favored by their squadmates to increase their power as well. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when paired with experts in biotics like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are placed in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method of creating them. You combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the level of the jewel, the better its secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or through finding Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can enhance the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boosts when it is inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

All kinds of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a sufficient level to qualify for them. Jewels can be replaced by another one without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace one jewel in a piece of equipment only once.
The use of more jewels in the movement can make it feel more comfortable, and is often used for aesthetic reasons. Apart from improving performance, the diamonds create an area that is stronger than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots won't cause damage as easily.
A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your weapons and shields. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be traded, but they're not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded at the Jeweler to exchange gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as traits or aegis cannot be exchanged, and can only be recovered with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that provide an array of small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the beginning areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and through completing road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers, and found or purchased from the Trading Post.
The first trinkets that a player can unlock is the cloak. It grants a small, but valuable boost in speed of movement and evasion. The player can then collect necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar manner similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't fighting. This lets the hero perform better when they are not active and also helps fill in the void of a strong team or any talent tree slots that would normally be filled with hero's ideal statistics.
As a rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace in the near future. Also, consider items with desirable statistics that aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if you want to upgrade multiple stats on an item. item upgrading is best to upgrade just one crucial stat rather than two suboptimal ones.
Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand, will choose a pink or green ward, based on the game's matchup. These choices will have an impact on a hero's ability to control the map.
Aside from the items listed above, players can discover a variety of other trinkets throughout the game in the form of awards and trophies. These can be obtained through completing certain milestones in the story, for instance finishing a chapter's main quest or destroying a boss. They can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
